Subsidy regulation for practical learning into force from January 1, 2014
The Subsidy regulation for practical leaning aims to encourage employers to provide practical apprenticeships and work based learning. The subsidy is a contribution to an employer for the expenses that he incurs for the accompaniment of an apprentice, participant of student. The subsidy is also an allowance for the wages and accompaniment costs of PhD students or a technological designer in training (technologische ontwerper in opleiding / toio). The new regulation primarily focuses on vulnerable group in the labour market; groups that suffer from youth unemployment and on student who attend training in sectors where there is a shortage of qualified staff and academic staff that is indispensable for the Dutch economy.
